First published in 1969, this story has endeared itself to many. An ‘old fashioned’ story of great charm, well worth introducing to youngsters of today.

Simple, expressive illustrations accompany the retelling of this French legend. I had not met this tale before, but found it has a charm that is well worth sharing. A simple soul, giving his best to God.

Written for ages 4 – 8, this story has been loved by many generations. This text was first published in 1982, the illustrations first appeared in the hardback edition in 2001. Now yet more children can grow to love this heartwarming tale of a loveable peasant woman forever searching for the Christ-child.

Any child, and older people too, will enjoy the twist in this tale. Without detracting from the Christmas story, Alan Macdonald introduces the idea of a wise man who cannot see what is under his nose!
