Literary Companion for Festivals - Readings for Commemorations Throughout the Year
by Mark Pryce
A useful resource of readings and poems which can be used to commemorate some of the lesser festivals of the church as well as many ‘saints of the church’ – those significant Christians across two thousand years who have helped to enlarge our knowledge and understanding of Christ. The book takes the reader through the year marking these commemorative days. This companion will be of use to those planning worship or perhaps more specifically for private devotion and reflection. A book which builds a bridge between literature and liturgy and can prompt our own imagination. Passages come from across the ages as well as across the world.

An ABC for the PCC - A Handbook for Church Council Members
by John Pitchford
Completely Revised and updated edition. Brian Hanson, who has retired as Legal Advisor to the General Synod, and who wrote the forward to the previous three editions, says in the forward to this edition 'The Law is forever changing as a result of both Parliamentary and General Synod 'good ideas'. This means that churchwardens and members of parochial church councils (and parish priests) dare not perform their tasks relying on yesterday's law.' Packed with facts and good advice, this book gives those concerned the tool that they need to do their jobs. Excellent.

The Heart of Worship Files
Compiled by Matt Redman
This book is a collection of highlights from the www.heartofworship.com website, which was set up to encourage those involved in leading worship. It explores the many different sides to leading worship with practical chapters about song writing and how to actually lead worship, alongside the theology of worship and creative insights into worship. What was highlighted to me in this book was that although there were many diverse thoughts from the many internationally well-known contributors there was the same passion for God and the same humility that worship is ‘to glorify God and to enjoy Him for ever’ (The Westminster Shorter Catechism). Not only for worship leaders, but food for thought for anyone who wants a closer, more intimate relationship with God

DIY Guide to All-age Worship - 12 Services for Common Worship year B
by Tim Storey
The author of this resource takes an honest approach to ‘all age’ worship. Pitching such a service is tricky, and some practical and sensible advice is offered here. This book concentrates on three principles; What is the one thing you want them [the congregation] to take away? What is the one issue you want to challenge them about? What is the one thing you want them to apply in their lives? The author recognizes our rapidly changing culture, there are services for most of the year’s calendar and the book is well structured. It provides clear guidelines, such as who does the service, timing, what to put in and what to leave out, so much so, that with a little work, I suggest you could fly with one of these services and surprise your congregation.

Purpose driven youth ministry - 9 essential foundations for healthy growth
by Doug Fields
This book is truly a must for ALL those who work with teenagers. It stands out from the crowd because of it’s clarity and I believe it’s one of the few which attempts to get to grips with helping the youth worker develop a youth strategy. .Much advice is given and the whole context of the book is geared around building healthy teams and developing fundamental purposes of evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, ministry, and worship. Following the advice of this book will certainly help your church to get to grips with planning effective youth work. So much so, this book is on the reading list of some youth work courses here in the UK. If you’re a youth worker, get hold of a copy, read it, and pass it onto your minister. If you’re a minister, get hold of a copy, read it, and pass it onto your youth worker(s).
