- The Bible, Israel and the Church

by Stephen Sizer

Including The Place of Israel a sermon by John Stott
At the beginning of this book are many recommendations from a variety of sources which set the scene for me before starting to read Stephen Sizer’s text. Zionism is a subject that I had quite consciously side stepped during recent years, but had unconsciously formed my own opinion. Stephen Sizer writes with deep conviction and as a result of thorough Bible study, yet manages to give a very fair and clear assessment of the pros and cons of Zionism as preached particularly in the USA. He explains the background to the beliefs of some Zionist group’s claims for more territory for Israel. He explains the various interpretations of ‘Israel’ and ‘Jerusalem’ using many excerpts from the Bible and showing that this is what the Bible teaches, it is not a personal opinion dreamt up by him. By the end, I had clear facts on which to anchor my personal thoughts and beliefs and am convinced that this is an essential read for all
