GoodBookStall Review:
Seeing The Spirit is intended to encourage adults either on their own or in a study group, to think about the Christian Gospel, most especially the nature, presence and meaning of the Spirit of God. Six pictorial representations of the Spirit are presented along with the relevant biblical passages. Each of the art works has been selected to shed light on a different aspect or concept of the Spirit such as: the giving of the life force at creation, the supporting of those in hardship or suffering and the connections within the Trinity and within the human community. The liberation of the oppressed and the inspiration of the committed Christian are also addressed. Each picture is intended to work on three separate levels; firstly, the response to the picture itself; secondly, the contemplation and discussion arising from the related Bible story and, thirdly, the contemplation of the work of the aspect of the Spirit depicted, in one’s own life. Each of the six sections is accompanied by a suggested learning layout which makes the material accessible to any individual or group.
My only reservation is that the use of this ‘book’ necessitates the removal of the staples to free the reproductions and learning sheets, leaving the user at risk of mislaying the sheets before further use.
