New Horizons
Our Adventure in the World of the Street
by Chiara Amirante
GoodBookStall Review:
This is a story that defies belief but is nevertheless true. It is the story, told by herself, of a 28 year old woman who works on the streets of Rome among the fallen and abandoned. She is a brave woman and she is religious. She began her mission on the streets of Dublin among the destitute where she did not find druggies, prostitutes and alcoholics but “Christ crucified alive”. She then moved to the Termini station in Rome where she brought to the same broken people, not physical relief, but love, solidarity and spiritual comfort. She then set up the organisation called New Horizons (Nuovi Orizzonti) to help the destitute. It now has nearly 400 full-time members and thousands of supporters. This is a thrilling and heart-warming story told with wonder and simplicity, but it is above all a story of hope and joy.
