GoodBookStall Review:
The holiness that we see presented in the lives of the saints can be rather forbidding and paradoxically even discouraging for those who are still trudging along the way of discipleship. What shines through this account of St Dimitri is both an endearing humanity and a faith which concentrates simply but with utter conviction on the love of Christ. His daughter writes with feeling but not sentimentality, allowing her memories and St Dimitri’s own letters to his wife to speak for themselves. The book helps us to understand a little better the making of a saint but it also, incidentally, offers an interesting side light into the beginnings of Orthodox involvement in the Ecumenical movement.
