GoodBookStall Review:
This is a great set of books to have together. Pictures are key to children’s books and the soft pastel approach in this set is gentle, but striking with regards to accompanying the stories as they unfold. I read these with my five year old and three year old together. They are written at a level which pleased them both. Livi (5) gives the set two thumbs up, and Alex (3) gives them a big smile. Jonah – tells this tale at a level, which avoids some of the harsh details which may be too much for young children, but does address the aspect of Jonah running away from God and how God just doesn’t let him get away with this. Loaves and Fishes – ISBN – 978-1-859-85882-0 This is a very positive retelling of one of Jesus’ best known miracles. The children are able to relate to the small boy in the story and consider how they can give whatever little they have and trust Jesus to use it well.
Zacchaeus – ISBN – 978-1-859-85881-3 I really enjoyed how well this story emphasises the change in Zacchaeus when he meets Jesus and the things he does differently.
Noah – ISBN - 978-1-859-85879-0 This story is often tricky to share with young children due to its mass destruction of the world, but this version concentrates on the positive aspects of God trusting Noah and saving his family and allows young readers to see how God is mighty and loving.
Now , spring 2012, four more titles in this series. Stilling the Storm, ISBN 978-1-859-85917-9, Joseph, ISBN 978-1-859-85909-4, Moses, ISBN 978-1-859-85908-7, Lost Sheep ISBN 978-1-859-85910-0. Editor
