My Story - From Welsh Mining Village to Worldwide Ministry
Extended Edition with photographs & CD
by Selwyn Hughes
GoodBookStall Review:
This autobiography of Selwyn Hughes charts his progress from a Welsh coal pit to an international ministry, whilst setting up a low cost travel industry and many other wonderful organisations along the way! His story is living proof of what can be achieved when your heart is for God. I particularly enjoyed reading about his early life and the beginnings of his ministry. He is piercingly honest about himself at times and provides useful insights in particular about marriage and the importance of saturating ones Christian life with prayer. I still wanted to know more about him by the end of the book. The last few chapters are very poignant and leave the reader knowing that Selwyn Hughes has spent his life being an incredibly energetic faithful servant of God, yet in his latter years has had to deal with the tragic loss of his wife and children. The epilogue is something I wanted to keep re-reading and treasure.

This extended edition is very welcome. The CD of Selwyn Hughes speaking at the 40th Anniversary of CWR, is inspiring, and it is so good to hear that well loved voice. The photographs exentuate the world wide ministry of this man, and the chapters written by John Peters chronicling the 'outstanding events of the last 18 months of Selwyn's life, his death, funeral, and Thanksgiving Service' are a fitting addition to the original book. The tributes at the end of the book reflect what so many people have felt about this very special man and his ministry.
