The Word is Very Near You: Sundays

Reflections on the Lectionary readings Years A, B & C

by John Pridmore

GoodBookStall Review:
These ‘reflections’ on the three readings set for the Principal Service on Sundays through the three years of the lectionary cycle might be sermons. They might be private meditations. They might even be notes for students. Pridmore says he is asking one question: ‘What do we learn from the Bible about what it means to follow Jesus?’ But in exploring the Gospel for each Sunday, and in confronting complexities squeezed out of public worship, he draws on art, literature, places and people, and personal memories, as well as scholarship and the accompanying biblical readings, to articulate the details of faith. The results are diverse, and stimulating in their use of reading to understand living.
