The Life and Times of Charles Henry Mackintosh
by Edwin Cross
GoodBookStall Review:
Born in Ireland in 1820 Charles Henry Mackintosh was one of the most significant evangelists of the early Brethren movement. From the age of 34 he committed his life solely to evangelism, writing and preaching. His writings helped to advance Brethren doctrine and practice in both the British Isles and across the world.
This biography contains many examples of his writings, particularly extracts from his letters. His titles included a six-volume work on the Pentateuch and many occasional papers on biblical themes and texts, many of which are referred to in this book. Also covered is the 1859 revival in Ulster as well as details of his early and later life. Various appendices cover biographical sketches of other early Brethren figures and a tribute to the author who, sadly, died just before the book was published.
This will be a useful book for anyone studying the early years of the Brethren movement.
