Footsteps of the Past: The Old Testament in the British Museum
Kings, Pharaohs and Bandits: The World of Abraham to Esther
by Brian Edwards and Clive Anderson
GoodBookStall Review:
Sold in packs of five for £10.00
This book is a good twin to Romans, Gladiators and Games, by the same authors.
It covers many Bible stories children will know well and points out where artifices mentioned in the Bible can be found in the museum. It shows how to do hieroglyphics and how bodies were mummified in Egypt, little boys will love that bit. There are plenty of things to do and make at home as well as at the museum, where there are many things to look for. At home you can make a model of a mummy and turn a box into a coffin to put it in to, among many other things. Included is a recipe for a Middle Eastern drink which looks tasty.
I think that there is plenty in this book which would deepen the children s knowledge of Bible events and also keep them happily engaged for hours with the activities and crafts.
