The cover says ‘designed to help Christians face trials and temptations of many sorts’ and this series of sermons on Psalm 73 is as valuable for arming oneself in preparation for the inevitable fight as it is for use during battle. This is strong, timeless and relevant teaching, plainly expressed, explaining the fundamental importance of right thinking about God, and how it affects everything. The Authorised Version is used throughout and I found it useful to have a modern translation to hand – phrases such as “I was pricked in my reins” can appear rather baffling to a twenty-first century reader – but that is a minor issue easily addressed. In all, this is a powerful book that I have no hesitation in recommending to Christians of all levels of maturity.
