GoodBookStall Review:
This is the first of a series brought back into print in November 2007, having been originally published in 1987 and reprinted many times since. Described elsewhere as mini-fables, an apt description, they are all stories told by Paul White a Doctor based in Mvumi hospital, Tanzania. These are exciting tales that grip you from start to finish and the characters are nurses and patients at the hospital and the African people in the villages around. Many of these people are in the grip of evil men, witchdoctors and others, who try to manipulate affairs for their own ends. At the hospital healing of the body and of the soul are routine for those willing to listen, and the testimonies and teaching of the staff and those around them is simply expressed in their own manner, reaching out to many of their fellow Africans. Nowhere is this intrusive to the story, it is part of the telling, and a very important part. I have enjoyed them all. The others are
Book 2, Jungle Doctor on the Hop
Book 3, Jungle Doctor Spots a Leopard
Book 4, Jungle Doctor’s crooked Dealings
Book 5, Jungle Doctor’s Enemies
Book 6, Jungle Doctor’s Slippery Places
A further six titles have now been re-printed, November 2008, Editor.
Book 7, Jungle Doctor's Africa
Book 8, Jungle Doctor on Safari
Book 9, ungle Doctor Meets a Lion
Book 10, Eyes on Jungle Doctor
Book 11, Jungle Doctor Stings a Scorpion
Book 12, Jungle Doctor Pulls a Leg
Four more published November 2009
Book 13, Jungle Doctor Looks for trouble
Book 14, Jungle Doctor Operates
Book 15, Jungle Doctor to the rescue
Book 16, Jungle Doctor Attacks Witchcraft
I have read each of these books with delight, and rather than giving away the individual stories, I still stand by my original review.
