GoodBookStall Review:
The value of parachute games and activities to encourage children to work together, have fun and develop control skills has been long established within playwork. This collection of 50 activities shows a new dimension to their versatility as Renita Boyle offers ideas to use the playchute to assist the retelling of bible stories; create opportunities for reflection; activities for active fun as a group together and makes connections with other play tools for further exploration. The book is clearly set out into stories from Genesis, Psalms and the Gospels whilst offering games (of varying levels of energy), stories, crafts, role-play and songs. Helpfully offering guidance for programme planning and safe play, as well as differentiating for different ages and abilities to get you started. The group of 4 to 7 year olds I work with thoroughly enjoyed the activities and looked forward to how it was to be used each time; as a team we found the instructions easy to follow and were impressed by the impact of this interaction upon our sessions. Once again Renita has got it just right!
