GoodBookStall Review:
Includes Photocopy permission.
Similar to Walking With Jesus Through Advent and Christmas published in 2005.
The Introduction has careful instructions on how to use this book, then comes the First Part called ‘Setting the Scene for the journey’ which does precisely that by explaining what this season is all about, and usefully including Mothering Sunday as an accepted part of the season. The author talks about the Spiritual Exercises of prayer, Bible reading, fasting and showing love to others and gives a theological overview of Lent and Easter.
Part Two has what the author calls ‘mini-maps’ for adults and another for children, to follow through the days and weeks that are set out in detail in Part Three where after a Bible reading and commentary Murray McBride, now an army chaplain, relates his experiences to the disciples journey with Jesus.
Appendix One is a Glossary, Appendix Two a diagram showing the Christian year.
Written for families and church-based children’s groups, the hope is that while working through this book together all ages will grow in knowledge and faith.
