Barnabas Children’s Bible

by Rhonda Davies

GoodBookStall Review:
This is a very special book that deserves the widest attention possible. Ideal for the older child who can read for themselves, as well as younger teenagers: there are 240 stories from the Old Testament and 125 from the New, so one for each day of the year. The stories/readings are undated so there is no pressure on when and how they are read. The stories are beautifully re-told beside the relevant quotation from the CEV (Contemporary English Version of the Bible) and the illustrations in bright but muted colours enhance the stories excellently. I loved the picture of Eve being tempted by the serpent, the plague of frogs in Egypt, the Queen of Sheba on her way to see Solomon and many more. At the end of the book is a short Encyclopedia listing subjects such as Food: Farming: Plants and Animals: Daily Life etc. I was impressed with this book and highly recommend it.
