A Monk in the Inner City

The ABCs of a Spiritual Journey

by Mary Lou Kownacki

GoodBookStall Review:
Sr Mary Lou is a Benedictine Nun who refers to herself as A Monk in the Inner City. The City is Erie on the shore of Lake Erie in Pennsylvania, USA. Working through the alphabet she reminisces on happenings in her life and reflects on these memories, or else she tells a story about someone she reveres or someone she has worked with or served. I found these quite short pieces a compelling read. She highlights a side to American life that we hear little about and it would be wrong to imagine that what she describes only happens in America! An eye-opener in many ways, and a glimpse into a life dedicated to Peace and to others.
