GoodBookStall Review:
The story of two quite different young girls who become fast friends. Bethan is shy and retiring, bullied by some children because of her ‘lazy eye’ and with a strong faith nurtured by her family, a home loving soul.
Jodie is an extravert, very bright and intensely interested in anything and everything, longing to spread her wings beyond the confines of their small home town.
When Jodie finds Bethan distraught over a little puppy she has found but is not allowed to keep, Jodie steps in to solve the problem and to befriend Bethan.
From then on they are inseparable, but inevitably they grow older and Jodie, who has resolutely refused to listen to talk of God after the death of her mother, falls for Bethan’s brother, there is sure to be trouble.
To say more would spoil the story. There is so much more not mentioned in this brief outline, but I can assure you that it is an excellent read.
Originally published in 1996, now re-issued with a new cover.
