GoodBookStall Review:
Karen Kingsbury has used the theme of the story of Mary Magdalene. All we know for sure, is that the Bible tells us that Jesus released her from seven devils. Nowhere are we told what these were, or what her true story before this was. In this novel, Mary Madison is a successful woman in New York, helping those who are caught up with sexual exploitation and abuse and other social deprivations. As she helps Emma through her particular trauma, Mary tells her own story to enable Emma to realise that Mary knows what it is like to feel trapped in a situation. Once you start into this book, you will feel compelled to continue to the end. You will meet extreme evil and wonderful goodness, but above all, a rattling good story.
