The Birthday Shoes
by Mary Weeks Millard
GoodBookStall Review:
Emily Jane has set her heart on a special pair of trendy high heeled boots, like some of her friends have. When she wakes up on the morning of her 11th birthday she is so exited. Unfortunately she is in for a big disappointment; the shoes she gets are not at all what she wants! They are ugly things made out of fake crocodile skin, she hates them.
What she does not know till she reluctantly tries them on some time later is that they have magic properties and take her to different African countries where crocodiles live. During these visits she learns all sorts of facts about crocodiles that she can use in her school project, but she also learns about the lives of the people who live near them, and they teach her how to make Jesus part of her life.
There are other strands to this story but you will have to read about them for yourself! I promise you, you will enjoy it.
