Hallowed Be Thy Name
Living by the Word of God
by Jim McManus
GoodBookStall Review:
In this book by Fr. McManus he examines closely a particular phrase of the Our Father. When we pray “Hallowed be Thy Name” we ask for God to hallow his name in us, to hear His word, accept it and live by it. The rest of the book is an expansion of this concept: we understand what God is saying to us in the Scriptures where He is speaking to us individually - the lectio divina. McManus also recommends a series of spiritual exercises where we cultivate a time of stillness and reflection where we experience a conversion of heart that leads to a confrontation with the reality of sin and of forgiveness, of ourselves and of others who have offended us. He details practical steps we can take to bring the presence of God within us. This is a sincere and inspiring little book, highly recommended.
