Loved For Who I Am
by Carlo Maria Martini
GoodBookStall Review:
Cardinal Martini’s book had a rather complex genesis. It consists of nine addresses given on a Lenten retreat for students of the Seveso Diocesan Seminary before 1999. The addresses are actually called dialogues since the students were able to question the retreat conductor. Bible passages are at the heart of each dialogue and the Cardinal’s ability to open up and illuminate each text is perhaps the most valuable contribution that the book makes. The Cardinal was once talked of , if memory serves, as a possible Pope, and so the book is also an insightful glimpse of the thinking of a very important European Christian. More than this, it is also an attempt to answer two fundamental questions for all Christians: Who am I? Who is my God?
