GoodBookStall Review:
In this Book Mark Sayers presents a contemporary view of the dominant Western culture, where Self is obsessed with celebrity and public presentation is all important. He calls this the Horizontal Self; and highlights a range of different ways it is reflected and its shallowness.
There are a large number of examples in the book, not only to expand his views, but also to challenge what we think.
I would fully recommend this book for anybody who is concerned and puzzled at what is happening in Western society and the rise of celebrity culture. Especially the section where Mark unpacks the dangers that exist for churches and the way some try to embrace aspects of the Horizontal Self.
