GoodBookStall Review:
This is arranged as a reference book with details of management of forty situations which the Christian counsellor is likely to encounter in the course of everyday work. The treatment of each subject typically includes brief examples, definitions and key thoughts, assessment interview suggestions, action steps, and Biblical insights. In some cases situations which could call for the help of psychiatrists or other professionals are described, and where applicable practical considerations too, for example, for someone who binges and then regurgitates their food, attention should be paid to the teeth which can be eroded by constant contact with stomach acid, and enquiring about the availability of weapons or potentially lethal medication for someone who is very depressed and where there is a risk of suicide.
In addition to counsellors, church leaders, pastors, elders and others in senior positions would find it helpful to have this book on hand, and it would be an advantage for the leaders of home groups to have access to such a volume, although for the majority of believers it is probably rather specialised. On the other hand, for any reader with an interest in the subject, it would be engaging reading.

The authors have dealt with problems relating to marriage in a separate volume, The Quick Reference Guide to Marriage and Family Counselling
