GoodBookStall Review:
A heart-warming evening’s read! I thoroughly enjoyed this story of a little boy in wartime America, whose Mother is killed in a road accident while his father is serving overseas. It is set in 1943, but I suspect will resonate with many as a highly possible current situation.
Patrick is a lovely little lad, but his Grandfather, who has the care of this child thrust upon him, is just not prepared to unbend enough to see that. Because of his overbearing ways he had fallen out with Patrick’s father Shawn many years ago, and can’t wait for Shawn to return and take Patrick off his hands.
All very sad, but the story has joy in it as well, and keeps you reading right to the end in one sitting.
Ideal as a Christmas gift to yourself or another, and I suspect will be read in subsequent years as well.
