GoodBookStall Review:
The author states at the outset that her book is for American under-graduates, especially those with little knowledge of Christian worship, and for seminarians, although the subject is dealt with ecumenically. Would-be readers who are not any of the above should not be put off, however. Used as a course book, even on one's own, the chapters raise many pertinent issues in an age when Christian worship is little understood, and even less experienced: when 'symbol' and 'ritual' are terms more associated with the religions of Asia for example, than with Churches and what they do on Sundays. This is a most welcome attempt to get the reader thinking.
