This was the first Lauraine Snelling book I had read, and I was quickly caught up into the story. I soon realised that the author had already written a series of titles about these Norwegian settlers in the Red River Valley in North Dakota, USA. This series is about the granddaughters of the original stories and each book stands alone, though it would be useful to have read more. I was interested enough to Google Red River Valley to understand the background more thoroughly. Lauraine Snelling’s love of the area and her knowledge of these people and how they lived shines through her storytelling. Set in the small but growing town of Blessing, this God-fearing agricultural community has its share of problems, Ellie and Andrew in particular. I am sure you will love to read about them
