GoodBookStall Review:
Life continues back on the Bjorklund farm in Blessing, Thorliff is successfully writing and helping publish the Northfield paper and paying his way through college, and Elizabeth is still intent on becoming a doctor, building on what she has learnt from Northfield’s doctor, by working again at the Chicago hospital, where Dr Morganstein holds a high opinion of her capabilities.
Thorliff and Elizabeth’s friendship is close, but only friendship, until Elizabeth is abducted and rescued by Thorliff, when their relationship deepens. When Thorliff returns home to a stricken Blessing which has suffered severe flooding, and realises the desperate need for a doctor, he pleads for Elizabeth to come – and she responds.
A happy ending to this particular chapter of the Red River saga, the different strands of which are woven together so engagingly by Lauraine Snelling.
