GoodBookStall Review:
Emmaline and Geoffrey knew each other in England when Emmaline was no more than a girl, they had fallen in love and become betrothed. However, Geoffrey has gone to America to start a life as a sheep farmer in Kansas promising to send for Emmaline in a year or so, but five years have gone past during which Emmaline’s businessman father has received letters from Geoffrey but kept most information to himself, supposedly to protect his fragile daughter from the harsh realities of prairie life. Finally, sent out to America to marry Geoffrey – her father insists she keep her part of the bargain – things very understandably do not go to plan.
A plausible tale of two young people caught up in a tangled web of miss-understanding at a particular time in American history.
