Retold by the same author as The Story of Jesus and The First Christmas this is for the older child who can read for themselves and can follow extra detail in the re-telling. Here the story starts with the Angel Gabriel appearing to Mary and follows it through to the flight into Egypt and the final return to Nazareth. The illustrator is different so this is suitable to give to a child who has previously had the other two. I liked the ‘extras’ too. A page spread with a simple map of the Holy Land, and a Who’s Who of the people involved in the story.
