GoodBookStall Review:
As always with Lion this is an excellently produced book with laminated hard covers, well illustrated and with clear chapter divisions and many essays on relevant subjects. Andrew Atherstone has provided a comprehensive, easy to read and detailed overview of the Reformation as it developed across Europe in the sixteenth century. Covering events, ideas and people he shows how the Reformation gained its own momentum until it had, through all its political and religious upheavals, changed the face of Christianity in Europe. There are annotated footnotes to each chapter and it has a useful index of significant people, although there is no index of places. Well written and with thorough research this has to be one of the best histories of the Reformation so far published and can be highly recommended to all those interested in this most significant period of European Church History.
