The World of the Bible
by John Drane
GoodBookStall Review:
In my first year at secondary school, my history text book was entitled “From Ur to Rome”, and it came to mind while reading this excellent study by John Drane. My text book was all black and white maps and illustrations, but this book, in true Lion fashion, has glorious colour photographs to add to the very informative text. The modern Bible reader will undoubtedly gain more from the Scriptures with an understanding of the historical and sociological times in which the stories, biographies and letters were set. I particularly liked the little Biblical chapter and verse references at the foot of the page columns to point the reader to the appropriate place in the Bible to further aid the context and comprehension.
