Greg Laurie writes with wisdom gained during over thirty years of marriage, and I read this book from a perspective of nearly fifty years married and agreed with all he has written. The world was a different place back then, but the art of marriage is just the same as ever. Greg Laurie has addressed his words to Americans but the message is just the same for us all, and working at a marriage goes on to the end. Not necessarily hard work, just a recognising of the other partners point of view, needs and feelings. The book is designed for reading together over a series of weeks, and the pieces are divided up into a theme a week for 10 weeks. I think you have got to be very committed to manage that but if you do, you will reap the benefit of the exercise. If you only manage to read through as I have done you will gain worthwhile insights, and it is an easy read and an ideal gift for a young couple starting out.
