Life is about living passionately and well in the present. Eric Delve brilliantly unpacks a life that counts not only our days but makes our days count by living intentionally and enjoying fully the unexpectedness of the everyday with Jesus. The lives of David and Jesus are the platform from which the gospel of relational, intentional and transformative living is explored and encouraged. The reader is urged to believe in the possibility that life truly means something. Along the way Delve, as a pastor-teacher challenges us to face up to who we really are, jettisoning pretence or fantasy, to accept our humanity in its weakness and its incredible potential. Then he urges us to understand what God's purpose is for us and to let him guide us into the full life he wants for us - including standing firm through difficult times.
There are some theological wobbles regarding the divinity and humanity of Christ, co-existing......... as detailed alleging that Jesus ‘left behind everything in his divinity that was incompatible with being human, including his awareness of himself’ but despite what you make of this, Delve gives us a book that is wonderfully easy to read, an ideas factory and in many parts a strong critique of the insights of atheism. I commend it greatly as a quality book to give away... it's a perfect help for some wanting to move beyond survival mode, to significance. So purchase at least two copies!
This is an energetic and engaging invitation to the significance of Christ's call to you and me. It canters along at a pace, bubbling over with hope and encouragement. Truly inspirational!
