GoodBookStall Review:
In this book Professor Bradshaw presents us with a veritable tour de force of academic theology which I am sure will become indispensable to those aspiring to be specialists in liturgical history. It covers exhaustively the practice and development of the Eucharist, Baptism and Prayer in the early centuries of the Church. It is not, however, a book for the general reader who does not share the aspiration to become a liturgical scholar. Those who simply desire to grow in their experience and understanding of the Christian sacraments could always read prayerfully the writings of the Fathers that Professor Bradshaw anatomizes with such gusto.
