Bright and lively illustrations help to bring the story alive. The very sad mis-treated donkey is bought by Joseph to carry Mary to Bethlehem and soon becomes involved in the greatest story of all. At first unwillingly, then through Mary’s gentleness, willingly. I enjoyed the surprise as a page opened up unexpectedly, and at the last the page opens to a nativity scene similar to the cover of the book. Younger children will thoroughly enjoy this book, and older ones too I suspect!
