The puzzle pieces are as you see them in the front cover, thick and sturdy, but easy enough for a little hand to hold and sort out which piece goes into which space. As each page is read the child puts in the relevant puzzle pieces then picks them out to go onto the next page. The final page uses them all. A novel idea which appealed to my three year old grandson, but suitable for younger children over 10months old. An adult will have to keep a watchful eye on the puzzle pieces to ensure they are all returned to their home in the front cover each time.
