Creating Uncommon Worship
Transforming the Liturgy of the Eucharist
by Richard Giles
GoodBookStall Review:
In this book the author of
Re-pitching the Tent turns his attention from the re-ordering of church buildings to the re-ordering of the liturgy within them. It is an exhilarating read for anyone with responsibility for or interest in formal liturgical worship, but it strays hardly at all beyond that particular world. Neo-monasticism reigns here as in the former book, with a simplified, even bare worship space and liturgical style. On the one hand there is much talk of including the whole body in worship - standing in circles, processions, few robed ministers. But on the other it is quite clear that what Father says goes, and the president becomes a strong focus of what is happening. So read the book to be inspired, but not directed, and be as ready to argue with Giles as to agree with him!
