GoodBookStall Review:
Church After Christendom looks at how the church needs to understand and embrace our post-modern culture, a culture where the church competes against all forms of spirituality as well as the secular mindset. Part One considers different patterns of believing and belonging and details the new forms of churches that have subsequently emerged. Part Two focuses on particular aspects of church life - mission, church/community, worship - and highlights how the church can return to being a dynamic movement This is a useful introduction to the subject for students, summarising current thinking on mission and ministry and referring widely and helpfully to other publications. However, the general reader will find Stuart Murray's first title in the series (Post-Christendom: Church and Mission in a Strange New World) more illuminating and certainly more interesting!
