This colour film tells the story of John Wycliffe, his confrontations with the Catholic Church and the political might of the State, through his banishment from academic life and his translating the Bible into English so that all men might read the Word of God. His brave and faithful followers continued to take his message and copies of the Bible translated into English to the poor, despite the best efforts of the church hierarchy. The strength of feeling on both sides is shown clearly, though hard for us to believe when many different translations of the Bible are available to us. An excellent film that I have already watched twice, and shall watch again.
