This is no ordinary dictionary of quotations, nor is it a collection of verses from the Bible listed under themes. In this volume Robert Backhouse has drawn on many sources to provide quotations on subjects of particular interest to Christians. As well as using the Bible and Christian writing, he also draws on the work of secular writers, even those expressing an anti-Christian view. A quotation giving a view that needs to be challenged can be as useful as one supporting an argument.
