GoodBookStall Review:
A scholarly but readable exploration into the role women have played in Christian Worship across the centuries. Susan White has, through exploration and research, revealed the influential role women have played in liturgy and worship. Not always in the church, but in the home or in open spaces. The part women have played in directing the course of worship can be discovered through a wide variety of sources from their wills – directing how their funeral will be conducted, through journals to women hymn writers and the more prominent role of women in church leadership in the present day. Women have contributed to worship through liturgy, hymnody and the creative arts. A fascinating book which I thoroughly recommend.
