GoodBookStall Review:
This book deals with abuse of all kinds, including sexual, emotional, physical and spiritual. The term Chevous uses for people who have been abused (including herself) is ‘survivor’ and this speaks volumes about the focus of her work. She is concerned to offer a guide to good practice, both in terms of preventing abuse and responding to it when it happens. Her work on explicitly theological themes is in touch with contemporary thought, particularly when she considers forgiveness and reconciliation, and her emphasis on the central role of the Christian community is surely to be welcomed. This is an important discussion, making the lack of similar volumes in Christian theology look all the more conspicuous.
