23 Days - A Story of Love, Death and God
by Frances Bridger
GoodBookStall Review:
This is Bridger’s journal of and reflections on his experience of losing his wife Renee to cancer in 2003: twenty three days from her diagnosis to her death. Bridger gives an honest, even raw, account of his feelings and thoughts – and this is the book’s strength. As a theologian he also goes on to try and make some sense of it all, articulating powerfully the belief that this depends on God himself both suffering and rising with us. This further reflection is partly presented in the form of fictional letters to those who supported him through the darkest days. This is a book which will help many people both in bereavement and in reflection on it, in the tradition of C.S. Lewis’ well-known A Grief Observed.
