Signs of the Times
The Secret Life of Twelve Everyday Icons
by Peter Graystone
GoodBookStall Review:
Some of us lead busy lives, some achieve an enviable balance with our daily activities, but how many of us take the time to reflect on subtle yet powerful influences on our lives? Signs of the Times offers such a look. Have you considered the icons of our times; txt messages, bottled water, the loyalty card, the tattoo, email spam, famous logos? This book helped me to look more closely at how these icons can be seen almost everywhere, giving me an insight into the spiritual state of our culture. I was left with a challenge to what I ‘follow’, notably do I see the cross and the empty tomb as powerful icons of today, or have they largely vanished? This book is light, fairly gentle and worth a read to make you stand still and take a look around you.
